Being
Considered, written, produced and directed by Jonathan
Newman, is historically the first film in this country
to have been partially funded through a pre-sale of
Video-on-Demand (VoD Internet) rights to British Telecom
Plc. Remarkably, the film was shot in 21 days on a
micro-budget .
The
high profile cast includes James Dreyfus in the lead
role, (MARTIN in Notting Hill, and currently in the hit
US sitcom BETTE), and Tania Levey in the lead female
role.
Tom
Farrelly makes his debut performance as Jojo Garfunkel.
There are cameos by the likes of Saeed Jaffrey (My
Beautiful Laundrette, Passage to India) and Olivier
award winner Nicholas Le Prevost (Amadeus, Shakespeare
in Love).
The
film was shot entirely on location in London and
Brighton. Despite the enormous barriers facing such a
micro-budget production, the film went ahead with a cast
of 26, a crew of 20 enthusiastic technicians and every
location within a 3 mile radius. Interestingly, several
actors play dual roles: Andy Nyman (DEAD BABIES) as the
salesman and limo driver; Charlotte Randle as Hatty
Fisher and Tammy from Brighton; and Eric Myers as Mr
Mervin and the bum(a scene which was later cut from the
film).
Audiences have described the film as
“witty, intelligent, charming… and a new wave of British
filmmaking… colourful, vibrant, fresh and original… " |
